Today, February 11 2025, I had the privilege of visiting the offices of Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA), located in the premises of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. It is visible as you arrive at the main gate, the first entrance to the airport, and is directly opposite the red BARABARA HOUSE – the Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) headquarters. Allow me to share my two cents of review about KCAA HQ, as per my experiences.
I was seeking a letter of no objection for the registration of our association. The first thing that caught my eyes was the elegance of the four-story structure as I entered its main entrance. Having written my details with the security officers manning the gate, I walked majestically, noticing the neatly maintained lawn! To the left and right, sprinklers were busy watering the planted grass, flowers, and compound trees, maintaining its beauty even during the scorching sun’s rays. The gardeners were pruning the hedges. You will be inspired!
You will be welcomed by other uniformed officers as you enter the main building, again! They are always ready to help, calling you sir, madam, etc. They are disciplined and speak politely, leaving you asking with a train of thoughts with a lot of satisfaction. Are they also trained on public relations and courtesy?
Wait, what about the neat building, with Wi-Fi? After direction by the security, you head to your appropriate department, be it the HR, legal, or the overall management departments. There are others too. Remember, KCAA is an aviation regulator, issuing air operation licenses, air navigation services, etc. Its mandate is quite huge, and all are listed on the notice boards.
I first headed to the first floor to meet the HR. I found myself seated on the waiting bay and everybody passing by has to stop by with this question, “umesaidika?” a Swahili word for “have you been appropriately helped?” I really miss the treat.
Long story short, the HR was super helpful. I ended my work tour at the General Manager’s office, meeting two ladies whose service is unmatched. One was the secretary to the GM.
Remember, KCAA is an agency of the government, under the Ministry of Roads and Transport. So, in future, when you’re tempted to say, “the government is useless,” please remember the services of its dedicated teams in its agencies and departments, such as KCAA.
The same is experience in Sheria House, housing the attorney general and its staff. It is located within the premises of KICC. Looooong live those wonderful public servants, and may the super powerful being notice your commitments to the service of humanity, and answer your prayers.
