Nothing excites the children and young people than the world of aviation. Close to 8 out of 10 children in a typical primary school classroom will say, “I want to be a pilot when I grown up!” However, they fail to appreciate many other careers, aspects, and dimensions of the industry. Thus, we are here to bridge the knowledge gap and make them closer to their destinies via education and industry collaborations.

At FlyWing Aviators Club of Africa (FACA), we envision to inspire the young people to achieve their desires. Through various activities like teaching, group projects, aviation trivia, aviation history, professional guest speakers, career guidance and mentorship, aviation essay writing competitions, airport visits, among others, we show them that indeed, their dreams have been accomplished by other people as well. Thus, they see possibilities instead of barriers.

Our Motto is: Inspiring dreams, elevating futures. This marries well with what is mentioned above. It also resonates with my personal experience where I had no one to guide me: I had to trust myself and purse my dream in aviation, and, guess what? I got it. This is what I and my team will trickle down to them more conveniently through this organization.

The vision is “To be the leading platform in Africa for inspiring and nurturing future aviation professionals, fostering innovation, and creating equal opportunities in the aviation industry,” while the mission is “To inspire and empower young aviation enthusiasts across Africa through mentorship, education, and industry collaboration, with aviation safety and security knowledge.” You can notice that our core concern is the young people, facilitating their aviation dreams manifestation. The fear that comes a imagining an aviation career should and must be tamed ASAP, the reason being, those already working in the industry are also humans like them. They are not super human, but their positioned themselves well for the opportunities in place. In the next article, I will cover our objectives, core values, alongside the partner organizations we work with for the success of our projections.
